Kym Ellery has a keen eye for line and form so it is little wonder the designer, who grew up in an artistic household, has turned to the rich canon of early 20th Century painting.
For her Fall 15 campaign, it was the raw, direct and intense figurative paintings of Klimt’s protege, Egon Schiele, that provided inspiration. The Austrian painter lived and worked intensely before succumbing to the Spanish flu in 1918, at just 28 years of age. Ellery’s collection is boldly modern—the silhouettes sculptural, the fabrication richly evoking painterly textures. The campaign was shot by New York based Darren McDonald and feature model Amanda Murphy, a face that has fronted Prada (amongst others) in the past. The Collection is in store and online now.
