Haunting forsure but far from melancholia, George Cosby latest release and second collaboration (first being ‘Vacant Grace’) ‘Blue Moon’ with Burberry Acoustic, indeed evokes the most deepest of emotions one can rarely emote.
The video shot in 100 Brixton East, London, formerly a 19th Century furniture warehouse now a venue for hire adds to the character of the video. Cosby with his mates provides a simple yet poised acoustic performance packed with powerful writing and their synergy that connects with the listeners on a platonic level.
George performed live for Burberry on the red carpet at the Autumn/Winter 2015 Menswear show and also shot an earlier Burberry Acoustic performance of his song, Vacant Grace, a song which later featured on his debut EP ‘Human Touch’ in November 2015.
‘Black Moon’ features on his forthcoming ‘Live For Burberry’ EP, alongside three other tracks recorded for Burberry & Bowers & Wilkins at RAK Studios in April 2016 and due for release on Apple Music on 17th June.
When asked on how he develops the sound and lyrics to his powerful, haunting tracks Cosby replied, “Writing changes to me all the time, when I first started it was only guitar and kind of rely on the rythym and then as you can almost get better at music and can learn how to write arrangements rather than just the outline of a song, I started using piano a lot more almost using it as a skeleton So I developed a concept out from maybe even just a word or phrase I have picked up or something that might have happened to me.”
“Then I try and fit some sort of musical scene towards it, I have always loved voices which we talk about being dramatic and that performances I think are some of the best, I mean when you go see ‘Alabama Shakes’ will feel like every word they are singing you generally believe it, I always wanted to be that sort of singer.”
“Great sound is so important that even at home, even listening to final vs CD to me is a big difference and some still collecting my finals and having great speakers is, I mean you cant beat it and its one of those things you will never realize until you have listened on both.”
