Alma Jodorowsky – A Star On Rise

2016-06-26_23-39-58

Actress, singer, model and all-round it girl— meet one of those women  only Paris seems to produce. A recently anointed beauty  ambassador, her star is most definitely on the rise.

The daughter of French thespians and granddaughter of Chilean film director Alejandro Jodorowsky, this is a woman destined for the silver screen. After a brief but breakout role in Blue is the Warmest Colour, she starred in Kids in Love (alongside Cara Delevingne, no less).

The 23-year-old is also eyeing a career in directing—with a video for her indie group, Burning Peacocks, one of her first to-dos. In true it-girl style, Jodorowsky has also turned her talents to acting as muse for the style set. Her latest gig: fronting for Lancôme. Here, the multi-tasking beauty talks make-up and more.

‘French’ style is a certain refinement when it comes to detail … With French women, there is always a little trick, something that stands out. Whether that’s the choice of a hat or an earring.

My wardrobe basics are lots of jackets and coats. It’s what I buy the most because they are pieces that immediately dress up an outfit, even if you are just wearing jeans … Flat boots … I’ve quite a few pairs of combat boots and platform shoes. I like chunky shoes that break up  a feminine outfit.

My relaxed look is jeans, a sailor top and Doc Martens.

For evening, I’ll wear a dress that is a bit girly with quite rock ‘n’ roll high-heeled boots and a coat or a long cardigan.

My top designers: At the moment I love Valentino, which I think is fabulous. I love to go second-hand shopping all over the place. Especially in vintage stores in New York  when I travel.

My icons are Catherine Deneuve in Peau d’Âne by Jacques Demy. Arletty in Les Enfants du Paradis by Marcel Carné. I also like those plucky actresses from Hollywood’s golden age like Elizabeth Taylor and Gena Rowlands.

I’m inspired by the 1960s. Many of my icons are women who were muses in that time: Françoise Hardy, but also Anna Karina, Françoise Dorléac, Catherine Deneuve … Make-up wise, I am a big fan of long doll-like lashes from that decade … I have also worn a mini-sweep of eyeliner since I was thirteen.

My make-up routine At the very least, I apply a concealer, Effacernes by Lancôme, and I wear Hypnôse mascara. I always wear quite simple, light make-up: a short sweep of the Artlines liner by Lancôme for my eyes and a slightly glossy pink lipstick on my lips.

For the evening I draw something of a cat’s eye shape, but not too thick so that it doesn’t make my eyes look smaller.

A beauty faux pas is having too many colours on my eyes and mouth. I also have trouble with overdone foundation.

In my bathroom, you’ll find quite a few creams, because I really like to mix up the textures, from very rich to light and satiny.  I’m also in the habit of doing a mask when I stay at home in the evening. All my products are displayed on the shelves and organised in an aesthetically pleasing way, even if I place those I often use  at the front.

To keep active I go to the gym a lot and I do Strala Yoga, dynamic yoga that combines poses and fitness.

My indulgences are green tea cheesecake, violet ice cream, champagne.
