Dolce & Gabbana Muse Kate King chats with L’Officiel on her childhood, beauty routine, sports, working with Sophia Loren and definition of a perfect D&G Woman.
’O What made you decide to join the Dolce Rosa campaign of Dolce & Gabbana?
“This project was an amazing opportunity for me, especially when I realized that the legendary Sophia Loren also participated! When I heard that I would meet her I was “over the moon” ! I had already worked with Dolce & Gabbana , but this project is really quite different. “
’O What is your relationship with perfume?
“I close my beauty routine always with perfume. It is, as it were, the icing on the cake; The last gesture before I go out of my house. I could not live without. “
’O Which scent reminds you of your childhood?
“I grew up in Canada and every time I come home raises the pure smell of fresh air me back to my childhood again. The contrast is even greater because I now living in New York. Furthermore, my mother always liked a lot of cooking; I notice the smells of her dishes are closely linked to my early years. I hope that later on will be the same with Dolce Rosa and I will associate with the period in which I live now. It is a unique and timeless perfume.
’O What is your daily beauty routine like?
In the morning, I always make out my face clean before I cream with SPF50 application – this is really essential to protect the skin from external influences. If I do not have to work I wear very little makeup, most a few strokes of mascara. When I go out I often choose for a smokey eye or bright red lips, but never both at the same time.
’O How do you maintain your body? Are you sporty?
For seven months I follow a vegetarian diet and I really notice the difference: I have a lot more energy, even though I had a short night. In addition, I go to the gym several times a week, I run hard and I practice yoga and pilates. I like to try new things each time.
’O What is, in your opinion, the typical Dolce & Gabbana woman look like?
I like to see that each creation from the hands of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana is a tribute to their native Italy. In my view the typical Dolce & Gabbana woman is a Mediterranean woman, powerful and with a strong character who know very well what she wants and who also always gets what she wants!
