Gucci opening party, west side style

Forget the Sydney vs. Melbourne rivalry, Gucci has bestowed an Australian first on Perth.

The new boutique is the first in Australia, and third in the world, to feature Creative Director, Alessandro Michele’s fully revitalized store vision, a concept re-design unveiled in September in Milan on Via Montenapoleone setting the tone for the brand’s new retail environment. At 394 square metres across one floor, the store showcases a wide collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry and accessories.

Guests were invited to preview the latest capsule collections from Gucci, Blooms and Caleido. First introduced for Autumn/Winter 2015-16, the GG Blooms pattern has been expanded into a full capsule collection for Cruise 2016. GG Blooms is a floral pattern that sits on the house’s historic GG pattern, a playful take on the classic logo-based motif, making it contemporary through an eclectic treatment.

Applied to the GG Supreme fabric, GG Blooms acquires a spirit that is a cross between romantic and street style that is both striking and youthful. The new GG Caleido print is a playful take on the GG-logo motif, which forms the background for this new pattern. GG Caleido is a design that suggests the geometric effect produced by looking at the GG pattern through a kaleidoscope. There are three different patterns, all based around the use of black, geometric shapes – bar, star and peak.

Guests enjoyed tunes from Sydney DJ Touch Sensitive; a multi-instrumentalist, self confessed synth-freak and italo-style icon, Michael Di Francesco, whose debut single ‘Body Stop’ was one of the first tracks released on Future Classic, back in 2004. Since then Touch Sensitive has found international success, playing sets around the world, including support slots alongside Disclosure and Cut Copy. Touch Sensitive played a 3 hour set from behind a custom Blooms DJ booth whilst guests enjoyed champagne, cocktails and canapés.
