Master the winged look for your eye shape with L’Oréal

The winged eye look requires some mastery (and a steady hand). Elsa Morgan, makeup director at L’Oréal Paris, offers a tutorial based on eye shape. Here are our cheat notes.

1) Close set eyes
For you, the trick is to open up the eyes, so go for the outer corner only. Draw the flick out and lift.
Who? Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker have their peepers set closer than most.

2) Downturned eyes
A slight drop in the outer eye?
Draw a straight line across the top lid, pull out from outer lid to create a wing. Avoid putting liner on the bottom lid.
Who? Marilyn Monroe, Anne Hathaway, Camilla Belle

3) Hooded Eyes
Keep the feline flick to the outer corner, the hood of your eyelid will cover any handy work along the lashes so there’s no point! Keep the lower lid clear too.
Who? Taylor Swift, Blake Lively and Emma Stone are our doe eyed beauties.

4) Asian Eyes
Asian eyes are a beautiful shape and perfect for the feline flick. Here you can go right from the inner corner of the eye, following the lash line and extending out for lift.
Who? Asian eyes are most often defined by an eye fold (epicanthic or median fold), which can be found in people of European and African descent also.
