Premiering in Melbourne just a few short weeks ago, The Dressmaker has been a runaway success at the Australian box office taking in $3.5 million dollars in the first four days.
Set in 1950s Australia, Tilly Dunnage (KATE WINSLET), is a beautiful and talented misfit, who returns home after many years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses. Back in the miserable little town of Dungatar, she’s hellbent on righting the wrongs of the past. Not only does she reconcile with her ailing, eccentric mother Molly (JUDY DAVIS) and unexpectedly fall in love with the pure-hearted Teddy (LIAM HEMSWORTH), but armed with her sewing machine and incredible sense of style, she transforms the women of the town and in doing so gets sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.
In our November edition we chat to Rosalie Ham, author of the best selling novel from which the film was adapted.
For a chance to win one of 5 double passes to the film, leave a note on our contact page with your details or email competition@lofficiel.com.au.
